TCN Commissions 2 Power Transformers in 2 States in One Day
Ministers Call on DisCo to Invest and Upgrade their networks
The project commissioning train of TCN fooled into two states of the Federation from Gombe to Adamawa on Sunday, 13th of May to further the corporation commitment to advance wheeling capacity and improve the quality and reliability of power to DisCos and ultimately the power consumers.
While in Gombe, Gombe State, the Minister of State 11, Power, Worksand Housing, Mr Suleiman Hassan Zarma commended TCN for using local in+ house capacityto install the new 1 x 30MVA transformer in the Gombe Transmission Substaion. According to the Minister, power supply to communities such as Gombe, Durazo, Dadin Kowa, Kumo, Biliru Bagoja aswell asDukku and Kasheri.
Zarma called on managers of Distribution Companies to upgrade their network in a similar manner so that the improvement the Generating Companies and TCN are doing in order to be able to take adequate power to the end-user. He said, ‘Government on its part has decided to invest in the Distribution Companies through an intervention of about 72billion Naira approved by the Federal Executive Council which will be a shareholder loan to all Distribution companies.
The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Louis Edozien announced that with the inauguration of the 1x40MVA Mobile Substation in Mayo Belwa, TCN has not only improved the quality of power to the communities adjoining the substation, TCN has also increase her wheeling capacity. Mr Edozien also announced that TCN was making plans to procure Higher Capacity Conductors for the reconductoring several line networks across the nation.
The Distribution Companies were urged to invest in their own network so as to take more power to the people whom the Minister called upon to be paying their monthly bills to keep the business flourishing.
The MD/CEO of TCN, Mr Usman Mohammed in his Welcome Addresses in both commissionings promised that many Transmission projects would be constructed nationwide to provide N – 1 universally accepted criterion for redundancy to be called up when the need arises with the ability to reduce equipment downtime and customer discomfort.
