President Buhari Reappoints Dr Amobi, Constitutes NBET Board
Dr. Marilyn Amobi has been reappointed the Managing Director, Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Company Plc. (NBET) for another four years by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The reappointment was communicated in a release, Thursday, by the Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget & National Planning, Zainab Usman and signed by her Special Adviser, Media and Communications, Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi.
Also contained in the release is the constitution of a new board of directors for the company to be chaired by the Minister of Finance, Budget & National Planning, Zainab Usman. Other non-executive members of the board include; Alexander Okoh, rep. BPE; Patience Oniha, rep. DMO; Ben Akabueze, rep. Budget Office of the Federation and Suleyman Ndanusa, rep. SEC.
The independent non-executive members are Balarabe Shehu and Adeyeye O. Adepegba. Dr. Amobi by virtue of being the MD/CEO is also a member of the board. The appointment of the board takes immediate effect.
It would be recalled that the company was embattled late last year culminating in the Honourable Minister of Power suspending Dr Amobi and the former MD of Rural Electrification Agency, REA for what he called “sanitizing power agencies”. The suspension did not last as President Buhari reversed the suspension and reinstated the top managers. Dr Marilyn Amobi was first appointed MD/CEO in 2016.
