President Buhari Re-appoints Chiedu Ugbo, MD & Executive Directors of NDPHC for Another 4 Years

President Buhari has approved the reappointment of Chiedu Ugbo, Managing Director of Niger Delta Power Holding Company of Nigeria for another four years.

The news was delivered today in the release signed by Laolu Akande, Special Assistant, Media to the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo. According to the release, the president also approved the reappointment of the two Executive Directors, Finance and Administration and Engineering, Babayo Shehu and Ifeoluwa Oyedele, respectively for another four years.
Akande further stated that the president also approved the creation of additional three directors for effective and efficient coverage of the company’s areas of activity.

Mr Chiedu Ugbo and the Executive Management have run the multi-purpose interventionist agency in the power sector since 2016 when they were first appointed. The agency was established in 2004 by the President Olusegun Obasanjo Administration as a quick-fix interventionist agency to augument the then poor infrastructure in all the power value chain- power generation, power transmission and power distribution.

Currently, NDPHC operates 10 power generating stations, has constructed several 330/132Kv power transmission stations, constructed several kilometres of both 330 and 132kV transmission lines as well as several distribution substations and 33/11kV lines in various parts of the country.

The agency has ventured into the provision of solar power facilities to light up over 20,000 households as well as provided over 1,073 boreholes in several rural communities across the country.
