It is indeed a good season for Nigerians as the Management of Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, seems to be reporting record breaking generation and transmission peaks in the National Grid. It just set a new peak of 4662MW.

In a press release by the TCN Management, signed by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Seun Olagunju, the new peak was attained at 08.00pm on Tuesday, 28th July, 2015.

It would be recalled that TCN Management had announced the attainment of the previous peak transmission of 4656MW on Wednesday, 15th July, 2015.

Power generation and transmission have been recording new peaks above 4500MW following improvements in gas supply to the generating stations as well as equipment/infra-structure upgrade and enhanced human capacity of system operators.

TCN assures that it would continue to work at enhancing the capacity to transmit more quality power to the electricity distribution companies.

Investigations by Energy Business Digest indicate that the people are excited by these improvements in the power supply. From Lagos to Port Harcourt, from Makurdi to Sokoto, the citizens expressed satisfaction with the supply of electricity.

However, some experts are of the view that the improved power situation is throwing up new challenges of the capacity and willingness of customers to pay the bills adequately and promptly. They feel that the managements of the DISCOs are going to have a hard time getting the customers to settle their bills.

Generally, the citizenry is happy and wish that the stability in power should not be a fluke; you have today and then you do not have it.
