Nigeria Attains New 5,377MW Electricity Generation Peak – TCN
The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has reported that the National Grid has made history even during the Covid 19 pandemic. According to TCN Twitter handle, the Grid achieved a new all-time peak generation of 5,377.8MW on Saturday, 1st August, 2020 at 21.30hrs.
TCN further stated that all the generated power was wheeled successfully to the power distribution load centers in the nation. The last highest generation peak was 5,375MW attained on 7th February, 2019.
TCN has been in the news with the appointment of new corporate management and the drive to upgrade the nation’s Grid with various green and brown field projects working in conjunction with stakeholders and international development partners.
The Federal Government has even gone further to ink agreement with the German Government, represented by Siemens to holistically overhaul the three power value sectors with the aim of delivering stable, reliable and quality power to the people. The government recently approved the payment of its counterpart financing to kick start the first phase of the Siemens Project dubbed Presidential Power Initiative, PPI.
