Azura Thermal Power Plant Runs Full Blast to Produce 450MWA into the Grid
There is some excitement in the Power house of Azura family as their latest baby in Edo State ran all their three turbines to produce the first phase maximum power of 450 MW on Friday, 13April, 2018. And they took to twitter to share the excitement.
The Azura Management has commended all who had a hand in the success and achievement of the project these incled the Federal Government, Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Industry, their technical and financial partners for this great feat.
It is noteworthy to recall that Azura Indepent Power Project has recently been the subject of litigation by the group of power generating companies, who took the Federal Government to court for the seeming preferential treatment Azura gets in terms of Invoice payments for power pumped into the National Grid. They argued that the N701billion Generation Payment Guarantee put in place by the Federal Government would soon be exhausted if Azura’s preferential treatments continue.
In response the Minister of a Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola had said that the group was mis -directed in going to court because Azura had a distinct contract from what they had.
The twitter has full of commendations for Azura’s new achievement which is really a manifestation of the current government’s drive to incremental and then steady power supply program. The face of the company is Dr David Ladipo –
