Vandals Cart away Power Cables on Abuja Expressway
Vandals have increased the problems of the commuters and customers of the power franchise in Abuja by carting away several kilometers of cables that supply power to the long and beautiful Kubwa Expressway in the Federal Capital. The cables included various sizes of electric armoured cables stretching over 1.7 kilometres along Murtala Muhammed Expressway, Kubwa Road, Abuja.
Inspecting the sites of the vandalism, the FCT Minster, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello who was represented by the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Umar Gambo Jibrin, told news men that the FCT Administration has resolved to take very stern measures against people found engaging in vandalization of power cables within the FCT.
The cables carted away were 99mm and 25mm for a stretch of 1.2 kilometer between Zuba Interchange and the Army Check point at Dei-Dei, as well as 99mm and 25mm between Muhammad Abubakar Police Barrack, Jibi and Police checkpoint before the Railway Overhead Bridge.
The minister warned that the FCT Administration will no longer tolerate wanton destruction of public infrastructure and utilities.
He also called on the residents of the FCT to continue to support the administration by exposing all criminal elements within their immediate neighbourhoods as well as report any suspicious movement of persons around public utilities to the security agencies.
